The Philippine Department of Tourism received, on behalf of the Philippine delegation to the China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market (COTTM), a gold “CTW Chinese Tourists Welcoming Award” in the category of Service Quality.
DOT Undersecretary Oscar Palabyab received the gold award for Service Quality from Prof Dr. Wolfgang Georg Alt, director of the German-based COTRI (China Outbound Tourism Research Institute) during the COTTM in Beijing.
Started in 2004, the “CTW Chinese Tourists Welcoming Award” is presented in five categories : Product Development, Marketing, Internet/New Media, Service Quality, and Overall Performance, with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards decided by an international jury. The awards are given yearly based on accomplishments for better service quality to meet the needs of Chinese outbound tourists. Aside from the Philippines, the “CTW Award” winners for 2010 included companies and destinations from Europe, Africa, South America and China. Consideration of the Philippines for the award was based on the projects and accomplishments of DOT Beijing in the China market for 2009.
